The pregnancy period is broadly divided into three trimesters. The first trimester begins from the first week and continues till the 12th week. The second trimester has its duration from 12 to 24 weeks and the second trimester goes from 24 to 40 weeks. But the development of the baby occurs in every week. However there is a need to look at the period for each respective month.
Ninth month is the month of welcoming the baby, and the baby is now 46cm in length. It has most likely nuzzled its head into its mother's pelvis, ready to take birth. If the baby takes birth during this period the baby will have the bright chances of surviving. There will be rapid growth of the lungs with further development over the next few weeks. The baby is now on the final stage of taking birth, which is now 51cm in length. It is considered that the baby secretes hormones that generate the beginning of labor. The baby develops a thick layer of subcutaneous fat and can gain up to 225g per week. In the last month the baby’s head will usually engage into the pelvis in readiness for birth. Less than 10% of babies arrive on their due date with around 85% arriving in the first two weeks of month ten.
